About

The meaning of "Haṭha Vidyã" is "yogic wisdom." "Haṭha" is composed of the Sanskrit terms "ha," which stands for life force or the sun, and "tha," which is the moon, which represents mental energy. These energies are synchronized by Hatha Vidya, which promotes mental equilibrium. Hatha Vidya, in its purest and most traditional form, is the first step toward improving psycho-physiological health. It gives practitioners the ability to master the body through mental control. It involves deep cleansing with Shad Karma Kriyas, starting with basic asanas. This gets the body ready for more difficult exercises like Pranayama (Kumbhaka Padhathi). Bandhas and mudras provide additional support in the exploration of Nadaanusandhan, a methodical path to both physical and spiritual bliss. The oldest and purest type of yoga is called Hatha Vidya. It is the first step toward achieving total well-being by enhancing one's psychophysiological state (mind and body). Hatha Vidya gives one the ability to master the body through the mind.

Haṭha VidyãTraditional School of Yoga bases its yoga teachings and practices on this tried-and-true knowledge, which is also widely recognized as Hatha Yoga.

Hathayoga achieves a steady-state of mind by bringing the two energy flows into balance.

Raja Yoga also has its roots in Hatha Yoga. The ultimate state of yoga is called raja yoga (samadhi). Raja Yoga is practiced after Hatha Yoga has been completed. Without knowledge and practice of both Yogas, one cannot become a Yogi.

It is important to distinguish Hatha Yoga from Physical Yoga, as it is not intended for physical benefit. It is more of a body-strengthening exercise meant to help one achieve samadhi, or an equanimous mind.

Starting with simple asanas (postures), the body is prepared for a full-fledged practice of Kumbhaka Padhathi (Pranayama) by putting it through a thorough cleansing process based on the Shad Karma Kriyas (a six-fold cleansing process).

The practitioner is then fully equipped to explore Nadaanusandhan (pursuing inner and external sounds, a pure and meticulous practice of corporeal and spiritual bliss) with the use of Mudras (symbolic psychic gestures) & Bandhas (a binding action involving pressure or contraction).

The Hatha Vidya ancient School of Yoga was founded with the purpose of spreading precise and authentic knowledge of yoga worldwide. Its objective is to preserve and enhance the ancient techniques of Hatha Yoga.

Adi Nath, the initial sound, is the progenitor of the Hath Yogic tradition. This lineage has not approved or validated any yoga practices. Due of its applicability to every individual in the human race, it can be considered universal, comprehensive, and inclusive of all.

The main approach for instructing Hath Yogic techniques has traditionally used the oral transmission of knowledge from the Guru to the trainee, also known as the Shishya. Only a limited quantity of manuscripts and shastras, which are classical texts, have been preserved throughout history, including information about parts of its practices. However, these texts are scattered throughout multiple sources.

Acharya began his scholastic studies at the Yoga-Vedanta Forest Academy, which is situated in the Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh. In his pursuit of truth, he has extensively journeyed across India. By embarking on numerous journeys, he has created strong relationships with well-known Yoga institutes.

In 2006, he joined the Natha tradition upon encountering his Guru, H.H. Srividyamba Saraswathi from Tamil Nadu. The establishment of Haṭha Vidyã Gurukulum in 2008 was motivated by his Guru's wish for him to provide Yoga instruction to people from various backgrounds in Kerala, India.

Acharya Bala has taken up the position of chief editor of Thapobhoomi, the publishing division of Haṭha Vidyã. Thapobhoomi's objective is to spread knowledge by producing and distributing books, publications, and other resources that are pertinent to the subjects of Yoga and Tantra.
